The failed U.S. attempt to trigger the snapback of UN sanctions against Iran “exposes the utter lack of efficacy of the Trump administration’s policy on Iran.” Suzanne Maloney points out how the Trump administration’s rejection of multilateral diplomacy has not stopped Iran from expanding its nuclear program nor reduced its regional influence. She also looks ahead to how a Biden administration might seek to reestablish negotiations toward a broader agreement.
